Some sessions are more than just photos, they're milestones, memories, and a reflection of a bond that keeps growing. This recent motherhood session at Flaming Geyser State Park was all of that and more. I first met this sweet family last year when their son was just three months old. We photographed him at Clark Lake Park in Kent, WA, capturing those tiny, tender early months. Now, one year later, I had the joy of seeing them again, this time to celebrate his first birthday with a golden-hour mother and son session.
📍 A Beautiful Evening at Flaming Geyser State Park
Located in Auburn, WA, Flaming Geyser State Park offers stunning river access, lush green fields, and dreamy golden light, which are perfect for family portraits and milestone photos.
We started the session by the river, where the water sparkled and reflected the soft evening sun. The mother wore a flowing off-white dress that added timeless elegance to every frame.
Holding her barefoot baby close, she waded into the river and embraced the moment. These images were some of my favorites because they were so natural, serene, and full of warmth.
🧺 A Cozy Blanket & A Field of Sunshine
After our riverside portraits, we moved into the nearby grassy field for more playful, grounded moments. A soft white blanket served as the perfect spot for snuggles, smiles, and a little bit of mischief from this energetic one-year-old.
We ended the session walking through the golden grass, the setting sun illuminating their silhouettes, a visual reminder of how fast these baby days go.
👩👧 A Special Appearance From Big Sister
Toward the end, this mother’s teenage daughter joined in for a few photos, capturing the connection between siblings and a mother’s love for both her children. These moments added a new dimension of tenderness and legacy to the session.
